The Mental Health Crisis Facing Executives

Why Alignment Matters

Without alignment, leaders live fractured and conflicted lives—pulled in different directions, exhausted, and vulnerable to burnout. Sometimes, owners find the time needs of their marriage is in conflict with their business calendar or they find their workload precludes them from spending consistent, quality time with God. But when executives align their calendars, processes, culture, marriage, family, and time with God, their personal effectiveness and the success in their business is increased tenfold or more. 

As a result, they 

  • Gain control over their time, allowing God to lead them instead of organizational demands driving them

Admitting one needs mental health assistance is not a sign of weakness: It is the Biblical way to lead:

  • The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice. (Proverbs 12:15 ESV)
  • The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps. One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless. (Proverbs 14:15–16 ESV)
  • Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. (Proverbs 13:10 NIV)
  • Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. (Proverbs 19:20 ESV)
  • Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. (Proverbs 13:20 ESV)
  • Better was a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who no longer knew how to take advice. (Ecclesiastes 4:13 NIV)

Removing the Stigma of Mental Health

Too many executives hide their mental health struggles out of fear, insecurities, or shame that often come from childhood wounds and trauma. God never intended for leaders to carry these burdens alone.
