About James Zeigler
James Zeigler was the CEO/Medical Center Director for the VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) in Fresno, California. He was responsible for overseeing all clinical and fiscal operations and patient-facing administrative services for Veterans residing in Central California. He has over 30 years of healthcare administration experience, including 12 years with the Veterans Health Administration. He is a life-career Presidential Appointee of the Senior Executive Service (SES).
Before serving at Fresno, he served as COO/Deputy Director at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) in Las Vegas, NV In 2019 he became the COO/Associate Director of the Chillicothe, OH VA Medical Center. He also served in an acting capacity as COO/associate Director at VISN 12, Iron Mountain, and COO/Acting Assistant Director for VISN 8, Bay Pines. Before joining VA leadership, he served as a physical medicine and rehabilitation service chief. Mr. Zeigler is a 2016 VISN 12 Leadership Development Program graduate. He graduated from the Health Care Leadership Development Program in 2018 and is a Fellow of Leadership VA 2022. Mr. Zeigler is an active American Legion and American Speech-Language and Hearing Association member, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a senior-level VHA-Certified Fellow Mentor. Mr. Zeigler is honored to have served 11 years in the United States Air Force. While in the USAF, he was a member of the Alaskan Air Command Talent Team and opened for the Mighty King’s Men performing his original music.
Jim is a devoted husband to Brenda for 39 years, father and grandfather. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking and writing worship songs, singing, and playing guitar. Jim led worship with Nora Lam Ministries in Hai Nan China in 1990 on a missions-trip distributing Bibles and blankets into communist China. He also served as Deacon of Missions in his past church memberships. Jim’s latest endeavor is authoring a book focused on increasing awareness and commitment to rid the world of bullying.
