About Doug Fearing
Doug has been married to his wife for 47 years, working as business partners for the past 26. Together they have four grandchildren, two of which were adopted out of foster care. Doug is also the founding President of Kinship Mentoring of Columbia County (very similar to Big Brother Big Sisters), and serves on the Board of Directors of Schools for Haiti, a 501c3 out of Tampa, FL, which operates 10 schools and is educating, feeding, and clothing over 2000 students. Doug is also a member of Gideon’s International and is a certified church presenter for the Gideons. He will also be a published author in January – the title of the book is, “To Make a Difference – With a Twist, How a Purpose Driven Desire Turned Into a Love Story”. Although Doug was raised and active in the church, he did not come to saving faith until he was 49 years old, which happened in a very unexpected way and that story is part of what the book is about.
In 1989-90, Doug was elected State President of the Wisconsin Jaycees, which at that time was a 10,000 member community service organization. At the end of his term, he was recognized as one of the top 20 state presidents in the nation and was also tapped to represent the United States Jaycees at the 1990 JCI Model United Nations. It was in the Jaycees that his public speaking grew and flourished. Doug also served as the Chairman of Republican Party of Columbia County from 1994-1998.
